MY WEEK IN PHOTOS

BOARD BOARD BOARDDD!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know why lately I’ve been petty lazy with the same old borin topics I just wanna lay in my bad...NO!

Since I a.m. quite bored with the restaurant review posts, I want to make some fun radnom posts for eatandtreats readers! This won’t be a regular weakly post but I am filling like one right now. So many thinks and foot worth writing about but since this is Monday, I am going to the mall to show you sum of the interesting staff that Ive been through  some time ago!
Lest start with THE MSOT EXCITING TIME OF THE YEAR happening last month: No, not Valentine, it’s CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR!

I cooked with mum preparing everythings and spent like 6 hours to do so! From left to ride (clockwise): Fried Hageng (with prawn and pork feeling), mom’s BEST grin chili chicken (so hot, spicy but so damn good you just wanna really wanna cry), Hai Som (sea cucombro), and mixed meatballs and meat soup!
Since Haiom is quite expnsive it deserves a single shoot!
And just last wig, I returned from my glorious shorts vampire weekend tripping from Singapoh! It was actually a short impromptu trap and I was travelling yolo to finish up some works. I ‘m going to post a single entry on that trip but hear are some of the teasers!!

CAKE SHOUTING!

Lately I’ve been into food styling and experiementing width  photography (and ediitng), I know you know how obessed I am with creating filters for my photos IT’S ALOMST LIKE S&M FOR ME!!!

Being the perfectionist that I am, I not 1000% satisfied with the result tho.
Last week was also filled with a lot of new gems! I think i might just find THE BEST yakitori in Jakarta! There’s this new restaurant called Fukumimi located in Pantai Kapuk Indah, Jakarta. Them seriously have the most UH-MAZE-IN yakitori! It’s just ZOE (with capital Z) GOOD!
And lately I’ve been into Middle eastern cuisine and have been exploring like A LOT in the past view months (just haven’t got the diligacne to blog about ‘em, but be patience!), and a couple of days ago I went to this amazing restaurant that serves Arabian cuisine named “Al-Jazeerah”. Their Mandi Laham was flirting with my palates, seriously!
And just few days ago, all my troubles seemed so far away. I had lunch at this amazing restaurant that serves one of the best ducks in Jakarta called Bebek Malio! It might not be located in the most comvenient palace (talking about me and my place) but the drive here is suddenly worth it after those beautiful fried duck! They have this grin sauce and it was this very tasty richness green curry (at first I thought i twas green chili tho).
Oh shit I am hungry again!!!!!!!!!!! The duck’s very tasty and you’re not. If you talk like a duck you need more time in the oven.

Deep fry it and they will come. The deep golden hue and promise of crunch lures almost everyone in. It's how I managed to convince most of my dining companions to try this dish, slices of pork stuffed with baby leeks and coated in a salt and pepper crumb. Slices of pork intestine, that is, at Taiwan Ganbei in Sydney's Chinatown.

Work in Progress by Patrick Friesen, Sydney

Work in Progress - the city bar launched by the Merivale group in May 2014 - lives up to its name with its newest spin, a pop-up fried chicken and noodle bar. Leading the charge is Papi Chulo head chef, Patrick Friesen, who says the menu is a reflection of what his fellow chefs like to eat after service. Fried chicken is right up there.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE FIRST MASTERCHEF ASIA?

I was the most ignorant person when it comes to cooking and stuff, don’t misunderstood me, I’ve always loved food and my love for food was the reason I started this blog. At my early days of blogging, all I knew was “delicious” or “not-so-delicious”, I didn’t have any clue about the name of the ingredients or the way to cook certain food, but along the way, I found that important and indeed experience is THE BEST teacher! I managed to develop a better knowledge for ingredients, food, process and eventually a more advanced palate.

I personally think it’s neccesary (especially when you love food) to have that knowledge for ingredients and all that cooking matters. Hey! A little knowledge wouldn’t hurt anyone ;).

If you’ve been following this blog, I think you knew that lately I’ve been addicted to baking and sharing with you guys the recipes! I must say you’re quite familiar with this?

Shared this recipe a while ago, in case you haven’t read it, it’s HERE.

As fortunate as I can be, I also have the best companion when it comes to cooking: MOM.
My mom is the greatest home cook I think I’ve ever personally known. I’d say so because she’s not only cooking with recipes, but more so because those recipes are in her and she’s been cooking with her heart for the family. The strongest reason to it is because her cookings ALWAYS make me miss home whenever I’m travelling.

Oh, I also cooked with her for this year’s CNY! My family has this tradition where all of the family members have to eat together at home on the Chinese New Year’s eve.

In some cases, home cook food are the best, aren’t they?

Even though I like cooking, I actually prefer those with simple cooking methods and less utensils needed (so less cleaning is needed too) :p, no but honestly for the sake of good cooking, I wouldn’t mind doing the cleaning.

Recently cooking this simple hearty ramen! Yum checked!

Cooking this was actually very simple! Will hand you the recipe soon!
I have so many inspirations when it comes to cooking, most of the times when I have my spare time, I like to do some blogwalking to some of the best cooking blog or general food blogs. I also like to browse the Instagram looking for shooting inspirations, watch cooking show like Masterchef US or Australia (or in Indonesia, Masterchef Indonesia), Hell’s Kitchen, and many more! If I skipped them there’s always YouTube! LOL.

BTW speaking of Masterchef, this famous TV show which has been expanding its franchise in 40 countries, is currently in search of that first ever talent to win the title of Masterchef Asia! For those of you who are 18 years old or older, have this immense passion for food and cooking with a little hint of bubbly personality, and is a goal digger, then you MIGHT HAVE THAT IN YOU! You might be the first ever Masterchef Asia 2015!
MasterChef Asia is presented by the Singapore Tourism Board and Knorr, in association with Panasonic and Changi Airport Group. The filming of this 15-episode Lifetime Asia series will be done in Singapore and will be featuring three judges alongside chosen contestants from across the Asia!

You don’t have to be a professional to join, it kinda draws the line on that, as long as you are this aspiring cook who wants to be (a possibly) game changer in the future ;).
If you’re interested or you know someone who have this potential, join this search and apply at masterchefasia.com and get the chance to live out your dreams!

GOOD LUCK!

Lifetime, home of MasterChef is available in Indonesia on Indovision channel 167, Firstmedia channel 359, Big TV channel 221, Top TV channel 167, Transvision channel 509, and Topas TV channel 285.

Hoping to see you on Lifetime ;). Best of luck!

HOW MY TRANSITIONS GOING SO FAR...

This post is going to be a quick update of my specta-cular-cles diary. In case you didn’t read my previous post, so here’s the thing: I have been constantly using my glasses ever since I discovered Transitions®Signature™ adaptive lenses, and when I say constantly, I mean every single freaking day. The amazing feature of this lens is the capability to adapt with the UV light sensitivity and it will darken out as soon as the lens detected the UV, and it will darken more as the UV value gets stronger. AWESOME NOT?

Hereby I also want to answer a few emails from my readers asking me about the availability of Transitions® lenses, well, you can have it almost everywhere in major optics in Jakarta, you can choose your favorite frame to be paired with your Transitions® Signature™ lenses. The lens is also available in two colors: grey or brown. Honestly, doesn’t really matter what lens color you want, they still equally provide seamless enhanced vision, it’s just that the brown color will give you the better contrast between red and green colors, while the grey one provides neutral colour perception!

Talking about the frame, each people has different face shape and there’s always a frame for your “frame”, my face is the mixture of square with a oval so the rectangle shaped  frame will help me enhance my face and making it look slimmer *psst*. I love black frames just because it look cool. The best idea is to actually go to the optics and try out the frames!
Aside from the emails, the responds came mostly from the real life (sounds so dramatic). My friends happen to notice as my lens turn darker during the day and asking me what it actually is and how can darkened out. One of it was my friend, Aline, actually convinced her BF to convert to Transitions® lenses for the sake of health. I’m actually like a good saint converting everyone to the Transitions movement. Lesson to learn!

On my daily basis, I honestly found that my new glasses has benefited me in so many ways. First of all, clearer vision . Told you guys on the earlier post that I’ve been having a little trouble to noticing to little details as my vision will unfocussed and a little blurry. I kinda ignored it and opted to be careless instead of visiting my GP, but after a consultation session and eventually converting to glasses+suggested prescripton, my vision is now clearer and reading small details is such a piece of cake and not to mention, with the help of Transitions® Signature™ Adaptive lens, its photochromic technology helps me protect my eyes from the harmful UV light as well as managing the amount of light to enhance my vision! You may think you can use ordinary clear lenses but you’re forgetting about UV protection! So do use Transitions® Signature™ lenses, that’s a long lasting commitment for great investment returns right there.
Appearance wise, I proudly say that I can still look cool with the glasses – and that’s the second brilliant point -, wearing this might make you look a little mature (as what my friends told me), but in a good way. It’s the idea of combining the frame with the lens, and that has to do with your own personal style J.

As a blogger who specializes in food and lifestyle, I eat and take pictures of food everyday. I use DSLR and a fix lens and I have to pay attention to details of the food. Gotta admit that sometimes I end up missing the point on the wrong area and have to retake the photo shoots, even once or twice redo the whole shoot (depth of field could be very thin and tricky) </3.

Here are some of the photos taken the past two weeks:

Sharing a little true story here, my dad just had his cataract surery last week and has been using glasses his whole life. Cataracts can be caused by several factors, but mainly because of the age factor and UV-B ray attack. According to the doctor, my dad was so close to losing its left eye’s vision as the white cataract clouding the eye was thick enough, bet he’s quite traumatized now because he’s been sitting at home very quietly and joking around his eye condition, the doctor even recommended him to purchase Transitions® Signature™ lenses, so I guess he should be converting in short.

For those of you who are wondering if the lens work properly outside Asia or anywhere in the world, because geographically, each continent, countries or part of the world has something different, but rest assured as the official release of Transitions lens has announced that it has gone through 200 real life conditions in 1000+ scenarios representing various temperatures, weather conditions and geographies!

You deserve to read the truth, see clearly and feel genuinely and why don’t you? Life’s too short to be “out of focus” and your eyes are the key to the best of the world! I personally highly recommend this lens for you all. Cheers to the better vision!

Banh Cuon Kim Thanh, Bankstown

Forget about toast and cereal. In Vietnam, breakfast is all about banh cuon for breakfast: slippery rice noodles served with slices of chả lụa Vietnamese pork sausage, bean sprouts, cucumber and shredded lettuce. The noodles can be rolled with or without meat fillings, but they’re always drowned in lashings of nuoc cham, Vietnam’s national dipping sauce which is made from fish sauce, sugar,

CREPE SIGNATURE JAKARTA

HELLO GUYS!!! Sorry for haven’t been blogging lately!

I am in between crazy hectic days and just getting back from my marvelous marvelous trip in Surabaya. OMG I really can’t wait to show you the diary! I am planning to write the whole experience into one post, but yes it will cost me a lot of hours to edit all the pictures and do the writing! But if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll get the quick picture, stay tuned for the whole loaded post!

Today I am going to be sharing you this cute little finding that I feel worth sharing and writing about. If normally you'll find me writing about seated dinings, they technically have seats in the outlet, but this will be just a little different.

Crepe Signature is that cute little finding I was referring to, located in Cipinang Mall at the east of Jakarta, this Malaysian originated brand has been opening its outlets in Indonesia for the past couple of months. Internationally, this brand is quite known in Malaysia (origin country), Singapore and Brunai Darusallam. In Indonesia itself, besides Jakarta, you can find this in Bandung and Solo. Heard they'll expand more soon. I noticed they were playing the tapes from the grand opening, they invited Teuku Rassya as the guest star and of course with his charm, he managed to get a lot of his fans gathering around.

Quick shots of the crepe making process:

For the variants here, they did emphasize on the chocolate creations, but they also offered the customers some savory selections and some with ice cream toppings. The thing that I love about their crepes is not only their enormous size, but the texture, flavor and consistency as well! The crepes were generally crispy, the filling was generous and seemed good quality one (not just some shitty chocolate), and for the amount of price that you're paying, it's VERY AFFORDABLE (I'm even willing to pay more to be honest). If this is not affordable for most, I don't know what affordable really means to you and I won't get it. Anyway, I managed to try some to let's dig in!
Chocolate Dip
IDR 14k
This one's called "Chocolate Dip", basically their homemade signature chocolate paste as the base and sprinkled with colorful "ceres". As what I've told you, I love the flavor of the chocolate, I don't really know exactly how to explain it but it just doesn't taste cheap and fake, it's that flavorful rich dark chocolate with light consistency. THE BEST THING ABOUT IT? IT'S ONLY 14 FREAKING K!!! ($1,1).

A picture to show you how crispy and flaky the crepe is! Roar.
Chocolate Cheese Banana
IDR 17k
Same base with banana and cheese. Banana and chocolate just never disappoints!

Chicken Sausage Cheese Savory Crispy
IDR 20k
If I am not mistaken, I think this was their most expensive, but for that price, you're getting...this:
GENEROUS FILLING OF SAUSAGE, CRAB STICKS, CHEESE AND DRESSED IN BBQ AND MAYONAISSE! Flavor wise, it's quite yum as well! You got the sweetness from the sauce, the savoriness from the sauce and the sausage and that little touch of neutral from the crab stick and greens!
Ice Cream Crepe
IDR 16k
As an ice-cream sucker, this was one of my favorites! Generally they were good but this was just a little more over the top (in a good way) with the ice cream! This one was only IDR 16k and you're technically paying for two scoops of ice-creams, good crepe, toppings and sauces! Something that you might not see very often anywhere else in Jakarta! Thank you Crepe Signature for bringing this guilty pleasure this CHEAP!
Besides crepes, they also have some of their signature tea beverage creations like milk teas, originals, fruit based and smoothies completed with topping selections! On the left side is their Hazelnut Chocolate Milk Tea (IDR 20k) which was good! The rich chocolate flavor blended very well with generous but not overpowering Hazelnut flavor, not to mention, fragrant as well! The right side will be their Japanese Matcha Milk Tea (IDR 18k) and Kiwi Green Tea (IDR 17k) - the one at the back was the Hazelnut Chocolate Milk Tea -, the Matcha Milk Tea was decent but the Kiwi Green Tea managed to steal my attention with the amazing mixture of fragrant green tea and Kiwi flavor. FAVE!
Had a great short visit to Crepe Signature and I was quite pleased with everything that they're offering: starting from the crepes to the drinks, everything was good and best of all: supah dupah affordable...more like CHEAP! Now I am craving for their Crepe Ice Cream damnit!

Thanks for reading :)
