Something for Jess, Chippendale
Some people buy their loved one a box of chocolates. Others name a cafe after them. If that's not enough to make you smile, then the seasonal menu and eclectic decor at this charming little cafe is sure to win you over.
Owner and chef Philip Ocampo named Something for Jess after his partner. He opened this quaint cafe after making the rounds of Sydney food markets with his organic Mexican food

A Djournal to Revisit: Djournal Coffee Grand Indonesia.

So I have a new coffee shop crush, it is Djournal Coffee from Ismaya Group. Anyway, I have reviewed this coffee shop before, one which located in Summarecon Mal Serpong 2 and incase you miss it, you can read the review HERE.
I've been anticipating about this coffee shop release in Grand Indonesia because I often go to Grand Indonesia (literally at least once every week) and everytime I pass this, I notice the construction is getting better and better, and as what I get to experience for myself last week, I think I just fell in love <3.
I love the atmosphere of this coffee shop! Maybe I was a little carried away by the rain since it was raining pretty mild and it tends to be a little cold inside and I was single (NOT RELEVANT!) aaaa..no, I'm joking. Seriously this place gets kinda cold during the night and I love cold places so I have no problem. It's just better to be in a cold place rather than a hot place.
The difference between the the outlet here and the one in SMS 2 is slightly the area, I personally think the SMS2's outlet is the bigger one, but overall I find the Grand Indonesia outlet more comfortable to stay around, it's just the perfect size, they play nice musics and seriously, I love a coffee shop that's surrounded by the smell of brewed coffee, it's just amazing and addicting. I also love the fact that this coffee shop in Grand Indonesia is more private-feeling rather than the one in SMS 2 which seems like more opened.
I got seated just beside the window with a perfect outdoor view and it was raining and I adore rain, I think it's somehow a miracle.
"There's something about the way, the street looks when it's just rained" - Taylor Swift "Fearless".
They have the cutest menu design ever. Almost the same concept of Anomali's only with a touch of their creativity.
This is the summary of what we (I came with my sister) ordered that night.
Left to right: Iced Salted Caramel, Hazelnut Nutella Cake, Iced Caramel Macchiato with whipped cream <3.
First of all, let me just tell you that THEY HAVE DROP DEAD GORGEOUS COFFEE. Slightly a bit strong in taste comparing to the brand 'x' I also do love (you know what I mean) and I think the champion for the night was the one and only Hazelnut Nutella Cake. During my visit to the SMS2's outlet, I also ordered the Nutella Cake, only different looking and taste. This one was titled with additional word of "Hazelnut" but if you ever tried the one is SMS2, it's not much different, almost the same.
Hazelnut Nutella Cake
IDR 28.000 (before tax)
I thought the texture on top of the cake surface is a chocolate powder, but it's totally a cripsy layer of something I'm not sure I can't explain, it's like a very thin crispy chocolate layer that melts in your mouth. What a genius!
Rich glimpse of delicious caramel sauce all over your caramel macchiato is such a genius one way guilty pleasure.
Iced Caramel Macchiato
IDR 39.000 (before tax)
Iced Salted Caramel
IDR 36.000
If you ask me what coffee to recommend having here, I would really recommend this over the Caramel Macchiato. I personally like this better than the CM, it's strong but not overpowering (since not everyone like very strong coffees) and this one is generally more friendly, sweeter and different :).
My date for the night, everyone says we look alike.
For those three treats, we spent around IDR 119k nett, a pretty good deal for an amazing coffee experience.
Djournal Coffee is certainly not a new coffee shop to underestimate, and they don't sell "outer look/physical appearance" you might probably fall in love with this coffee shop like me :)).
Thank you for reading! and if you have any comments about this coffee shop, do share your personal opinions and leave comments :D.

Bistronomy Jakarta: When Fine Dining Meets Pretty.

We went eating at this fancy fine dining restaurant named "BISTRONOMY". They really put service at its best, starting from what you will personally experienced the moment you're still in your vehicle until the end. From the beginning of my arrival, two security staffs will kindly come to you, direct you and your car and actually open your car doors, just like that.. that's where the fancy starts. HAHAHA! I'm so overrated I'm sorry.
This is how the restaurant looks from the outside, it's actually a home but it's decorated super pretty, almost like a getaway house for your springbreak! If this is your first time trying to find your way here, it's not super eye-catching so you need to look around and pay attention.
I hate hate hate Jakarta's unorganized wires, everything I took a photo of beautiful sky, the wires always ruin the whole pictures >:"(.
Meanwhile, The interior of this restaurant is so pretty and super eye-catching! One of the prettiest restaurants I've ever been in Jakarta.
I got this moment when I feel like really blend with the interior, I have always been such a fan of victorian vintage retro interior with lots of applications of woods (as you know) because I've mentioned it a lot of times. I would love to have a room at my future house to be like this.
I LOVE THE COLORS! I edited the photos to be semi-vintage to make the situation more even.
Chandeliers are like diamonds in the sky <3.

They also have afternoon tea set for IDR 150K++. Great deal!
I didn't have the chance to try this for this visit but I saw people ordered this and it was so pretty. I'm on a mission to compile a list of the best venues to have afternoon tea in Jakarta. Will Bistronomy make it to my list? :P.

This flower which I don't know what its name is, is all over the room and I think it's a genius idea because it fits the atmosphere, and those mirror frames are also major properties <3.

SO PRETTY!
If you're wondering how big this restaurant is, they have both interior and exterior dining seats, I think both will fit maximum 70 people. They designed the interior to be very comfortable, yet crowded but you won't feel stuck, and best thing is that they don't allow SMOKERS inside. GET OUT GET OUT.
We were being seated at just the perfect spot, next to window with great natural daylight and obviously that's a plus point for me because I love natural daylights for photography. I am pretty satisfied with the photos I managed to capture that day, and I hope you like it too :D.
See how beautiful natural sunlight is for photos <3.

Anyway this is my friend, Rika I talked about earlier. She's so pretty right?
If you want her phone number you can email me... HAHAHA. Just kidding.
They give free complimentaries of breads and they use the nicest butter ever!
"You are the butter to my bread". Sadly I haven't found my butter yet.

What did we order?
Of course their recommended menus. We ordered two of their favorite main courses and here they are.
Lamb Chops with Honey Mustard Sauce
IDR 150k++
I LOVE THE HONEY MUSTARD SAUCE!!! It's so yummy.
Everytime I order a dish of meat, my standard of a perfect meat is medium-well and the lamb chops were cooked beautifully. Look at that picture above, it's almost like it's speaking. I love how they manage to use sweet potatoes as the garnish.
Pork Sandwich with Bacon and Sausage.
IDR 95k++
THIS IS SO DELICIOUS OMG!
The portion is pretty large and with generous fill, great sauce, mozarella cheese and best of that, awesome experience having it as your meal. One of the uniqueness of the dishes here are the dressing: they always have grilled potato (wedges cut) and sweet potato and salad with great sauce. The dressing is so beautiful. See two pictures above. For the beverages, I ordered the super delicious...and I mean S U P E R!
They have the most freshest mango smoothie, I can see the ice is very smooth and the color is pretty, it's not very sweet (custom sweetness). I recommend this to you if you happen to go here.
Mango Smoothie - IDR 30k++
Another plus point: THEY HAVE GREAT TOILETS!
Not taking any pictures of the toilet's interior, but I can describe that it's very ethnic and traditional designed. The idea of the toilet door is also great, well, I know sometimes words can't fully describe it, you better check it out for yourself.
Together the bill after tax was IDR 477k and thanks to Rika for the treat.
Ending this post with my favorite photo that day, the sunlight was in its best direction and I love this photo (acting like I'm somewhere around Europe)
buhhbyeee till the next post!
Have a great day y'all!

Anomali Coffee Senopati: Share Your Love For Local Coffees.
Just yesterday I went to this coffee shop I've been dying to go for ever! You're probably familiar with this brand if you go to Plaza Indonesia pretty often, there, this outlet is located inside the Urban Kitchen, but if you're not familiar with this brand, so now, let me introduce you to...
Anomali is probably one of the hippest spot for coffee lovers (like me), I've been to their outlet in Plaza Indonesia for a lot of times, mostly just sit around, working on my projects, while definitely sipping their delicious coffees.
Do you know what's even better?
THEY USE LOCAL COFFEE BEANS!
If you read my post about my coffee culture seminar I attended two weeks ago, I got the information that Indonesia is the world's fourth largest coffee producer. This is definitely something to be proud of and promoted and our beloved country also produces KAPHOW quality of coffee beans. I'm proud to be Indonesian! *glasses on*
I've been to their outlet in Plaza Indonesia for a lot of times but never I went to this one located in Senopati, this is their main spot and of course the most comfortable one (going to tell you more about that), so, yesterday, after having lunch at Bistronomy (which I'm going to blog about soon), me and my friend of 17 years, Rika, went to Anomali Coffee. By the way, Rika is officially a "young-doctor" and just granted with "S. Ked." on Saturday. Congratulations bestie, I'm so proud of you!
Since I've been around Senopati for quite some time, for me to find this place is pretty easy, if you wanna reach here, you'll probably need to take the way from Pacific Place (for base direction, the easiest one) and maybe ask for directions and good luck. I know I don't help you much, at least I greeted you good luck. Make sure you look around because you need to see a board that's not very big. The board is basically a red board with graphic of their logo.
Pretty much like this one:
This place is not very big, but to be honest, it's one of the most comfortable coffee shop I've ever been in my life! My ideal coffee shop would be a venue, with a huge application of wood and glass for interior, cool air conditioning, decent scent of coffee all over the venue, lounge music and of course nice coffee drinks as companions, and you know what?? This coffee shop is very close from my ideal imagination of coffee shop.
Let me take you to tour the venue.
It was raining, I initially want something hot to warm me up and beside, hot coffee drinks are mostly pretty so they're going to look very good for photos...
BUT!!!
I remember their famous Creme Brulee Caramel Coffee and it's personally best served shaken with ice, so I ordered that for my visit this time. Rika ordered their Signature Iced Cappuccino.
Creme Brulle Caramel Coffee - IDR 44k (nett)
Iced Cappuccino - IDR 34k (nett)
Taste? D E C E N T!
If you're trying to compare this with famous high end brands, you'll probably going to have the same or even better coffee drinking experience. They use prime coffees and FYI, IDR 40k for a cup of coffee is not very very cheap to be honest, but since I love coffee, and I want to support my country's own coffee, then I'm gooood. These two are my recommended menus.
Just like humans, coffee also needs a good companion. Do try their famous Eclairs. I have mine their good old Vanilla Eclair.
IDR 16k (nett)
Stay tuned here because I'm compiling my list of top 5 coffee shops in Jakarta, the list is almost done, I need to make sure that the top 5 are the best of the best!
If you are a coffee lover and you're looking for a place that serves great quality coffees, especially Indonesian coffee beans, then look no further than this coffee shop.

I'm sorry I didn't take photo of their exterior because it was raining pretty hard and I never look forward to get my camera wet :0.
This place is not very big, but to be honest, it's one of the most comfortable coffee shop I've ever been in my life! They use a lot of bricks texture for the wall, which makes everything even prettier and cooler.
Woods, glass, bricks, coffees. I want to live here.
This place is originally not very big but their deco makes everything just so comfortable and personally, I love staying for hours having conversation with my friends while of course sipping my favorite drinks here.
SAY PROMO!
They also sell their coffee beans for costumers, come in 200gr until 1kg.
They have the most genius menu design ever! It looks more like a journal instead of a menu but that's the genius part. I love how they use handwriting font for this menu.

You know when you go out with your best friends, you sit there talking for hours but never know what exactly the point of what you're talking about. Well sometimes, THAT'S THE POINT! The conversation point with your best friends is literally POINTLESS! MUAHAHAHA!
And as the result of hours of random conversations, I ordered another drink, this one is their Lychee Tea (IDR 28k) because I saw a lot of costumers ordered this. This is not just a tea with lychee fruit and thank you for not creating it that way because I'm going furious.. They use their signature lychee syrup, that syrup just makes this drink popped!
Here is a picture of me and my best friend, Rika.
