Cronut at Dominique Ansel Bakery, NYC, New York
The cronut. It's taken New Yorkers by storm and swept across the world via a tornado of inspired bakers. In Sydney, Adriano Zumbo is selling the zonut. In Melbourne it's the doissant by MoVida. And who created all this fuss? It's the brain child of Dominique Ansel, a French baker who worked as an Executive Pastry Chef for Daniel Boulud for six years. Although we were in New York earlier this

Bloggers Tea Time with Dapur Cokelat Menteng
Hello my lovely readers! How are y'all doing??? I don't know why I am so happy today, I feel like my metabolism is rising and my endorphins are working very well. I don't know why am I even saying this but I am just happy! Why oh why?
Oh! Maybe because this post contains a lot of endorphin source! CHOCOLATE!!!
So last week I was invited for an exclusive bloggers tea time session with Dapur Coklat Menteng by Chef Adith. Basically, Dapur Cokelat is now releasing their version of an awesome tea time with the theme "New Look, New Sensation: New Personal Cake!". This invitation just comes in a right time, literally when I am on my high tea mission, and what's Dapur Cokelat without their selection of awesome chocolate cakes??? That makes this one certainly not to be missed. The growth of the restaurants offering you a nice tea time experience is so rapid, and for ones, it's a good thing.
Dapur Cokelat is like a bottomless pit of chocolate factory.
Three photos below taken with Samsung Galaxy Camera.
Don't worry, those above were just the "appetizers", and again, don't worry, the chocolate foodporns don't stop right here, I still have tons to show you guys.
Chef Adith told us that there are 17 cakes to be served for us for presentation and the excitement don't stop right there, we are allowed to taste the cakes!!! Certainly not each and every cake because I'm going to end up closer to diabetic (just kidding), no, honestly sweet treats somehow make you very full, but I still managed to at least have one bite of some cakes expecting to be impressed.
Left to right:
DC's Choco (16k)
Raspberry Jefa (21.5k)
Opera Cake (20k)
Choco Monkey (15k)
Chocolate Caramel (22k)
Here are some of the cakes that I managed to take an individual shot and some I tried myself.
Choco De La Creme
IDR 25k
This cake is the star of the night because from the overall tasting, I'd say this is the best! This cake is the mixture of Vanilla and Chocolate Creme Brulee with Glazy Dark Chocolate Coating. Starting from the coating to the very last bite, you'll find a joy of eating this soft mousse cake with rich chocolate taste, the cake literally melts and dances in your mouth, damn I want it again right now.
Maybe you're wondering about some gold sparks on top of the cake and if some of you think of it as gold, then YES IT IS! and plus, it's 24 karat gold!!! Only 24 karat gold is edible. Remember that.
Fruit Shortcake
IDR 15.5k
This one is light, if you love a basic vanilla fruit tart, this one is for you. Applause for the crunchy almonds.
Strawberry Cheesecake
IDR 22k
If you have been a loyal reader, you probably know that I am not a big fan of cheese, I just can't eat certain type of cheese, except Mozarella because it barely tastes like common cheese and Mozarella is like one of the best inventions of earth after smartphones (I know, not relevant), so I didn't manage to try this but according to the bloggers, it's nice, so I guess worth your try, it looks pretty already <3.
Caramel Chocolate
IDR 22k
One input given to Chef Adith for this cake, because it tastes more like a Chocolate Caramel rather than the vice-versa, you can sense the caramel but it's just very little, maybe some would expect more, right? The chocolate used here is the Dark Chocolate and the cake is somehow thicker than most cakes here, but is this bad? Not at all, I honestly pretty much like it.
Fruit Tartlet
IDR 12.5k
Tastes almost the same as the Fruit Shortcake only different base and texture, but still, another worth to try.
Dapur Cokelat Opera Cake
IDR 20k
I bet this cake needs no introduction, it's their famous Opera Cake and I have been such a fan of this cake ever since I was in high school because this cake occasionally become the surprise cake! I love how the layers of the buttercream and dark chocolate ganache (and definitely coffee) blends together in your mouth. The buttercream somehow not overpowering. One of the best Opera Cake in town you need to rush here and purchase!
Red Velvet Cake
IDR
I can't keep my eyes off the red velvet cake! I don't know like when I am in a certain cake store, my eyes always fall for the red velvets, they're just magnetizing it's like their red color has this energy to keep my eyes on the cake. Therefore, I fall depper into tasting the cake and this one is good!
Choco Monkey
IDR 15K
This dark chocolate cake has a huge hint of banana and that's probably why they named it "Choco Monkey" cake. The monkey was so cute I have no guts eating it.
Tiramisu Cake
IDR 19.5k
DECENT! That word was exactly what's on my mind when I had the first bite of this cake, Dapur Cokelat is so good in keeping the cake and the mascarpone cream not to be milky-overpowering, which is good for my liking, and for my personal preference, it's totally a major plus point.
Mango Cassata
IDR 18k
Mango and chocolate are meant to be with one another. Genius idea and so photogenic, just look at the cake.
Hazelnut Pralines
IDR 25k
One of my most favorite of the Tea Time session. The chocolate truffle cake is so creamy and the hazelnut is rich but not sharp. You know what I ultimately loved about this cake? It's the biscuit/macaroon on top of the cake, it just adds the contrast and the texture, I don't like boring cakes and this is certainly not boring. MUST TRY.
Two Seasons
IDR 19.5k
Triple Decker
IDR 17.5
This is also another favorite of mine among the series, I love the usage of the dark cherries as the filling, somehow adds a little touch of sourness, certainly what I need after huge hits of sweet treats.
Java Chocolate
IDR 15k
After this session, I left with a happy face and happy tummy, again still managed to release a few holes of my belt for my stomach to breathe and to hide the scale in my house after I arrived.
The surprise doesn't stop there! I was given a fabulous goodie bag of their "Choco De La Creme" and "Opera" cake, but it doesn't look so appetizing after I arrived home, somehow maybe the cakes were fighting on my way home.
Here's how Dapur Cokelat look from outside, to help you from getting lost.
Photos taken with Samsung Galaxy Camera.
THANK YOU DAPUR COKELAT FOR THE SWEET TREATS!
The thing with Dapur Cokelat is that they serve us great cakes with affordable prices, sometimes when you enter a restaurant and you realize that one slice of cake is a little too pricy and you make it a lesson not to coming back, but not with this one, I am pretty sure that Dapur Cokelat will be the destination of a great tea time place, just look at them! How many years have they served us with their gracious chocolate treats? They already have 12 outlets spread around Indonesia, they just maybe need a bigger venue for dine in.
And here's a case, if you have IDR 50k to shop in Dapur Cokelat, I would recommend you their "Choco De La Creme" and "Hazelnut Pralines" or "Mango Cassata" or "Raspberry Jefa" (I don't manage to take a individual picture of the cake, but it's actually in my 7th photo-starting from above-beside the Opera Cake with a chocolate swirl on top).

The Grounds of Alexandria Markets, Alexandria
Live honeycomb by Maya Sunny Honey
Hello! I'm back after three weeks of eating donuts, fried chicken and barbecue around the USA. It was a crazy non-stop eat-fest but I wouldn't have had it any other way. If you haven't been following me on Twitter or Instagram, you can catch up on all the incriminating evidence here.
Never fear. There will be USA blog posts to come - as soon as I sort through
Cork and Screw: Choco Lava to Die For!
I am such a big fan of this food I'm going to be reviewing! Moments ago, I went to Plaza Indonesia to meet up with a friend and we decided to have a little chit chat with the company of something sweet, he recommended me this Cork and Screw's chocolate lava (as you can see above).
Choco Lava (or some call it chocolate lava, chocolate molten). Gosh, I mean, who doesn't love choco lava? Well some of you might not, but for at least once in your life, please give this dish a shot, who knows you can fall deeper than you think you could have ever been. The very soft layer of cake blends along with the warm chocolate "syrup" and let them melt in your mouth and burst out! Fantastic.
I love love love that Cork and Screw offers three selection of the chocolate lava cakes: dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate, regarding that not everyone like a certain type of chocolate. All three sit on a vanilla sauce. I am not a huge fan of dark chocolate so I think the milk chocolate somehow fits me the best, but three of these chocolate lava cakes are just awesome.
Cork and Screw Choco Lava Cakes
IDR 40k (before tax)
Holly Berry
After a huge hit of sweet treats, I need something sour and fresh to balance it up. I ordered this Holly Berry, it's a sparkling soda with strawberries, yogurt and one scoop of strawberry ice cream.
IDR 45k (before tax)
I would obviously be coming back to try more of these little devils, they're so good.
My journey is not over yet, still searching for the delicious choco lava cakes in Jakarta! If you have any recommendation, please tell me :).
Thanks for reading!

Popbar Central Park: Not Your Typical Popsicles!
Great news for you!!! Popbar is finally in Jakarta and they have two outlets already!!! The nearest one to my home is the one located in Central Park, so it's easier for me to reach them and I'm going to give you guys the privelege of looking at their island of handmade sticks gelato, not literally an island, but everytime I look at those colorful popbars, I am always attracted to take pictures because they're so photogenic, colorful and dreamy. I bet kids are going to be in love with them.
They have tons of popbars to choose starting from the variants like chocolate and milk base, to the fruit base. I like the ones with the fruit base more because they're just tasted fresh and I love a little touch of sourness to the bars. Not that I don't like the milk and chocolate base, but it's just my personal liking.
I'd love to recommend you to try their uber delicious Pistachio bar, personally, I think it's the best. For the fruit base one, I'm going to go with the original strawberry and the peach, I just love the medium sweetness with a little touch of sourness. Totally the bars for your summer. Imagine having them on a hot day at the beach.
For the pricing, it starts from IDR 25k (for the most basic one, no topping) until 36k (after toppings and dippings), each topping/dipping will cost you additional 3k, frankly speaking, a little pricy, but to stop you from wondering, you need to try them for yourself.
Have I told you that they don't use any artifical coloring and completely natural?
Complete flavor list: papaya, coffee, mint, watermelon, pistachio, peach, giandula, lemon, coconut, banana, peanut butter, orange, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, guava, hazelnut & mxied-berries.

School Food Bloomingmari Central Park: Ttepokki Madness!
So a new korean restaurant is opening at Central Park. The korean culture is turning and growing into a posessing vibe through our community and social these days, especially from the culinary section. I've been noticing that more and more korean themed restaurants are opening. Let's just hope that they tasted nice and not only taking the trend for granted.
The restaurant I'm going to be reviewing is called School Food Bloomingmari. This restaurant is a franchise from its origin country, South Korea. Don't ask me what kind of food served here because I guess you guys can already figure that out.
Initially, I only wanted to have a light snack while enjoying the vibe of the restaurant. So I guess me and my friends go with their (sort of famous) Tteopokki. For those of you who don't know what Tteopokki is, it's a kind of boiled rice cake and usually being served with this spicy red sauce in Korea. The sauce itself actually tastes in between spicy-sour and sweet, as well as tangy. I don't know the proper word to really define the taste so I guess you better give a shot. The restaurant itself is so unique, it actually reminds me more of a school cafetaria, maybe that's why they named it School Food.
Virgin Mojito (Lime Mojito)
IDR 30k (before tax)
Strawberry Freeze
IDR 30k (before tax)
I think I was lucky enough to order this because when I start to get into the meals, you'll know what I mean. By the way, I was hoping this to be more icy and memorable (you know when blended drinks still has the concrete ice texture), maybe they just served it this way, but for my liking, I was expecting more of the texture and extravagant flavor because the name was already convincing enough.
Spicy Carbonara Tteopokki
IDR 85k (before tax)
To be honest, when I was looking at the menu, I started to imagine that Tteopokki will fit with the creamy carbonara sauce, regarding to the texture of the Tteopokki itself, so I dare myself ordering this one.
I wasn't expecting this size, it's a little heavy for my ideal light meal (but hey, at least I got this size instead of the little one, right, and plus, you can share) and remember the price that I'm paying, it shouldn't be too little or else I will consider this not worth it. Taste? I like it, I think it's decent. I love how creamy the carbonara sauce is, it's thick and cheesy but not overpowering, Back to my early imagination about Tteopokki and carbonara sauce, I think I'll recommend this one to everyone reading this post, they're such lovers to one another.
Original Tteopokki
IDR 55k (before tax)
This one is the devil. Oh My Holy Smooch!!! First try and I'd rather stop, I don't know what's with me, but ever since I was a little kid, everytime my tounge sense something that's spicy, my sweat will start to pour like a heavy waterfall, the spicier, even heavier "waterfall" live action occurs. So, I guess for me, this is pretty spicy. Aside from how spicy this Tteopokki is, I still sense the goodness of this, I think it's still delicious and it has a little touch of Kimchi. You should try.
I still prefer the Carbonara Tteopokki to the original one. I think it's just more unique and more special, but it's always back to your preference. For those of you who are such big fans of korean culture and wanted to try exploring it, you can give this restaurant a try, it's totally not bad, but I just don't think that it's traditional enough (incase you're looking for one).
Thanks for reading, until the next post :)

Stomachs Eleven: Homemade yakitori skewers and Ichiran ramen
A kookaburra stole my tsukune! It's one thing to admire the local wildlife, perched in the tree behind us as we tend the charcoal barbecue. It's another matter altogether when it swoops down on us - so fast that I can feel a rush of air on my cheek - as it zeroes in on a tsukune chicken meatball skewer and then carries it off next door to haughtily eat its spoils.
I unashamedly screamed like a

Afternoon Tea at Moovina Le Jardin-Mezzanine
It was a nice day, cool weather and all that I have in mind was having afternoon tea.
I asked my followers on Twitter about the great places in Jakarta to have afternoon tea and some of my followers replied me with a name of the place that I'm going to be reviewing right this second. Ladies and gentlemen, it's MOOVINA: Le Jardin-Mezzanine. (Le Jardin is pronounced : LE JARD(A)N).
Le Jardin was the venue of where this afternoon tea session occured. Moovina has two areas: Le Jardin's located on the third floor of Plaza Indonesia and Mezzanine was located one level higher. Le Jardin is purposed for everyone who wants a more relaxed atmosphere for light-bites and afternoon tea like I did, while Mezzanine is for a more formal event (more romantic event), since it's purposed for ones who wanted to have their main course.
Just a few steps inside and I was super impressed by how beautiful the place is, it's almost like you're in a French garden with a lot of plants and I was seated at a perfect place near the window where natural daylight is friendly.
When they gave me the menu, I just can't decide, I need to see it for myself because I need to have the physique look of the cakes so that I'll be more relieved in choosing, yet at least that I know that my cakes are pretty (lol). Initially I wanted to go for the Edelweiss private afternoon tea set, but sadly they don't include sliced cakes, the menu consists of croissant, rhum sticks, and lemon tart, therefore I go with the Ala Carte.
La Vie En Rose
IDR 25k (before tax)
This cake really caught my attention, especially how beautiful they decorated the side with butter-cream in pink gradation. I was so blown away with how pretty the cake looks I need to make sure that the cake actually tastes as sweet and as memorable as it looks. The cake was very moist with a touch of raspberry flavor! I honestly like this cake. I am not a very big fan of butter cream but this one is beyond my imagination, I thought it's going to greasy and eww-in-taste, but it was so soft, melts in your mouth, not overpowering.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcake
IDR 21k (before tax)
Again, I was captivated by the beauty of this cake, the nut crumble are the reason why I have to choose this cupcake! It looks so delish any eyes will feel extremely guilty not taking this.
I tried the peanut butter and I love how it's very smooth, it doesn't really taste like Skippy so I presume that it's custom made Moovina style. Overall, good start at the peanut butter.
I must admit that the chocolate cupcake wasn't my favorite and it's under my expectation. I thought the cake would be soft and moist, but it's the exact opposite. I need to spend a little more energy to slice the cupcake but as it gets to the bottom, the softness is like a gradient, the lower surface has the softest consistency. I think it'd be better if the cake starts from the medium to extra soft, instead of hard to soft.
Camomile Tea
IDR 28k (before tax)
The tea they're using is from Dilmah, which is one of the top quality teas in the world. Going with Camomile wasn't a mistake at all, it's really relaxing and the scent of the camomile really keeps my mood at the steady-good.
While you spend a little fortune to enjoy an afternoon tea at certain places. For some people, afternoon tea is not an excuse to post beautiful fancy treat on Instagram, for some, it's a lifestyle, and it's actually so much more than pretty cakes and fancy teas, it's about private, personal and inner joy on a nice afternoon.
I'm still going to surf the great places in Jakarta to have my private afternoon teatime.
If you have any recommendations, please leave comments or reach me via Twitter <3.
